This recording is a blessing, considering that at the time of this review, we are still missing soundboards for the two prior shows of this Oakland run, and missing the Soundboard for the first night of the Salt Lake City run. I've got my fingers crossed we will see them soon! In the meantime, it's nice to have a sbd of this last night of the 3-night Feb '95 Oakland run.
Okay, the first set is a short seven songs which definitely goes by very quickly. There aren't any exceptional versions of songs, or unusual musical moments, but there definitely is solid Ensemble playing throughout as well as some good Harmony singing. The opening let the good times roll is a rarity and this is only one of two times it was performed in 95, having been performed only three times the year prior. The vocal Antics on this one will put a smile on your face :-) Vince's straight piano sound and the very tight sound of the Rhythm Section gives the band a very classy and full sound With the drums may be sounding better than ever. Bobby straps on an acoustic guitar for the final three song sequence and this part of the set sounds unique as well, almost like an "acoustic set".
But set two is the payoff... it starts off a little just combobulated but after the first song it really gets going and then David Murray walks out on saxophone and everything from there on out is really wild and really hot, culminating in a knock your socks off NFA! Right up there with the other top sets of the year. Four stars for the sound, three and a half stars for the first set and then four and a half stars for the second set so I give it four stars all around.

To my ears, Garcia sounded better in Sp95 than in Winter '94, though those late '94s - upon recent listening - are better than expected. For this one, in particular, skip the rest and go straight for the Estimated. Everything from there on, with David Murray, is rather good.
